Development Internship

Halcyon, a nonprofit since 2017, accelerates the impact-driven future of business through fellowship programs for early-stage social entrepreneurs, aiming to shape a more inclusive, impact-oriented business landscape. What Are We Looking For?

We’re actively seeking a Development Intern who shares our values and believes in our mission to join our team and contribute to our vision for a better future. This full-time, in-person internship runs from June till August.

This internship is eligible for academic credit and offers undergraduate and graduate students a chance to merge practical, professional experience with their academic growth. You must be able to receive college credit for your internship experience to be eligible for this position. This is a summer internship position, however the exact start and ends dates are flexible.

What Will You Do?

As a Development intern, you’ll work closely with our Development, Data Analysis, and Strategy Associate, and will play a vital role in in supporting both Halcyon’s development operations, database maintenance, and fundraising efforts.

From managing multiple projects and collaborating with our team, you’ll play a critical role in shaping our entrepreneurial ecosystem and amplifying our impact.

  • Support day-to-day operations of Halcyon’s Development department, including processing donations and managing data input into EveryAction CRM platform.
  • Assist with writing tasks, including conducting background research, drafting proposals, and creating fundraising materials to support ongoing fundraising campaigns.
  • Identify potential supporters and partners through prospect research, aligning funding priorities with Halcyon programming.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, communicating respectfully with key stakeholders, attending events for professional growth, and networking within the Halcyon community to understand stakeholder engagement motivations.

Additionally, as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary with a high-profile Social Impact Conference, you’ll be a supporter in making this event a success.

What Skills Will Make You Successful at Halcyon?

  • Passion for finding innovative solutions with the ability to articulate ideas creatively.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work effectively under pressure.
  • High accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong computer competency including Microsoft Office and strong Excel skills.
  • Capable of collaborating effectively in team settings and autonomously accomplishing shared goals.
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders (donors, sponsors, colleagues, and the press) and adept at problem-solving to recommend effective solutions.
  • Ability to work with multiple deadlines, while adapting to changing circumstances and pitching in where needed.
  • Thrive on working in a fast-paced, dynamic, start-up environment and be able to maintain a good sense of humor.
  • Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings to meet program requirements.
  • Fundraising experience preferred but not necessary.
