Madleine Mwithiga
Madleine is the Managing Director for Africa and Co-Founder of ADAPTA.EARTH, Africa’s first climate adaptation facility directed to the agricultural sector. ADAPTA, with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has developed the ADAPTA CS (Climate Scoring Data & Tech Tool) – a novel climate-smart banking underwriting model and risk management framework for managing Ag-portfolios. With full responsibility for ADAPTA business operations in Africa and building projects globally, Madleine evaluates potential opportunities for scaling climate adaptation support.
Holding senior management roles at international and local banks, Madleine has 28 years of banking experience across Africa as Country and Regional Head for SMEs, launching strong client propositions and successful product rollouts. Madleine gained global recognition in the banking industry for embedding innovative solutions for SME clients and received excellence awards for effective implementation of small business support strategies.
Madleine is also a farmer, growing sugar, herbs, and tubers in central and coastal Kenya, pursuing a Master of Agribusiness at the Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya, and an alumnus of Women Executives Federation of Kenya Employers Leadership Program. Madleine holds professional certifications in Corporate Governance & Board Competence and is a member of several local boards.
