Peter Mwangi

Peter Mwangi Njeri is the Co-founder of Mega Gas Alternative Energy, a clean energy startup whose mission is to provide access to clean and affordable cooking energy for low-income families through converting plastic waste into fuel. He started Mega Gas Alternative Energy to respond to the dual challenges of rampant plastic pollution and low quality of life experienced by many families in the low-income area where he lives.

His work has been profiled and awarded at the German Startup Tour 2017 as the best energy startup (Africa), the 2018 Climate Launchpad finalist in Scotland, Top 10 Total Startup of the year 2019, and the regional finalist in the Bill Clinton Hult Prize 2019. Β He was also recently selected as a 2020 Yunus and Youth Fellow. He is a Royal Academy of Engineering Fellow, a Microsoft #Insider4Good Fellow, a YALI and East Africa fellow, and has a degree in Sales and Marketing from Kenyatta University. He is also trained in Leadership from Cambridge University.
