Halcyon Fund

The Halcyon Fund is a $5 million fund established to invest in the ventures of Halcyon Fellows. To date, 16 ventures have received funding, with an average initial investment of $100,000.

What makes the Halcyon Fund different from other funds is its approach to de-risking investments by getting to know the ventures we invest in – by the time we invest in these ventures, Halcyon has spent hundreds of hours working with their founders as Halcyon Fellows. And as Halcyon ventures, all the portfolio companies are early-stage startups dedicated to creating a virtuous cycle between impact and profit.

How it works

The Halcyon Fund makes initial investments in the pre-seed and seed rounds of ventures founded by Halcyon fellows, with additional capital reserved for follow-on investments. As Halcyon grows and supports more fellows, the pipeline of potential deals for the Halcyon Fund grows.

Why it matters

Halcyon’s fellowships take no equity from participating ventures because we believe different approaches to funding (and different timelines) make sense for every startup venture. But when fellows do seek investors, and when investors see financial returns, Halcyon wants to be a part of that scaling, particularly given that the majority of our fellows belong to historically underrepresented groups when it comes to venture capital.

Eligibility

All current and former Halcyon Fellows are eligible to pitch to the Halcyon Fund. Eligible applicants can inquire for more information by contacting p.vanduinen@halcyonhouse.org. Founders who have not participated in Halcyon’s programs are invited to check out the Halcyon Angels.
