Halcyon Celebrates Co-Founder Dr. Sachiko Kuno’s Visionary Legacy as It Prepares for Its Next Chapter

Press Release

Washington, DC – July 30, 2025

Halcyon, the nonprofit accelerator that has supported nearly 600 impact-driven entrepreneurs globally, announced today that it will transition from its historic Georgetown headquarters, Halcyon House. This carefully planned move honors Co-Founder Dr. Sachiko Kuno’s succession planning vision and sets the stage for Halcyon’s continued evolution and growth.

“From the very beginning, my dream was to create a sanctuary where changemakers could come together, innovate, and create lasting impact,” said Dr. Sachiko Kuno. “I’m incredibly proud of what our community has accomplished and look forward to supporting Halcyon’s next phase in a new space that reflects our shared mission.”

Halcyon’s President and CEO, Daniel Barker, added:

“Dr. Kuno’s generosity and foresight have been the foundation of everything we do. Alongside Kate Goodall, she shaped an organization that empowers entrepreneurs tackling climate change, health equity, economic inclusion, and beyond. While we will always cherish Halcyon House, this move offers us an exciting opportunity to expand our partnerships and program offerings.”

Plans are already underway to identify a new, centrally located headquarters in Washington, D.C. that reflects Halcyon’s scalable, global mission and the inclusive spirit championed by Dr. Kuno. The new space will not only house Halcyon’s staff and programs, but also serve as a vibrant hub to connect and convene Halcyon’s broader ecosystem of social impact entrepreneurs, partners, and changemakers.  With a growing community of more than 600 alumni entrepreneurs from over 50 countries, the accelerator runs programs throughout the year in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Africa.

Key Details of the Transition

  • Founder-Led Planning: The relocation is a deliberate part of Dr. Kuno’s succession planning strategy, ensuring her legacy is stewarded for decades to come.
  • Uninterrupted Programming: Halcyon’s fellowships, convenings, and community events will continue without disruption throughout the transition period.

Halcyon will share further updates with its community and the press as details are finalized. For the latest news and insights, please visit halcyonhouse.org.
