Leana Katz, Philanthropist
Leana is a long-standing member of 100 Women Strong and serves on the boards of Horizons of Greater Washington and the Wolftrap Foundation. She is also on the honorary board of SCAN of Northern Virginia, and previously served on the board of Venture Philanthropy Partners. Leana is a generous supporter of the Washington Ballet and Halcyon House, and in 2021, she and her husband co-sponsored Halcyon’s Annual Awards Gala. Passionate about helping children, Leana volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in abuse and neglect cases from 2007 through 2017. In 2016, for her work as a CASA, she received the Cleary Award from SCAN of Northern Virginia for her “vision and commitment to making a positive difference for children.”
Leana previously worked in federal consulting for Accenture. Leana is also an avid runner and has completed thirteen marathons – most notably Boston in 2017 and 2023. She and her husband Marc, a local entrepreneur, have three children, ages 15, 12, and 9. Leana earned her BA in Anthropology and Sociology from Smith College.
