Title: Program Director, Halcyon Incubator
Reports To: Chief Innovation Officer

Job Summary

The Program Director will orchestrate and oversee all aspects of the Halcyon Incubator Program.  In addition to leading Halcyon Incubator Program, the Program Director will lead the core pedagogy and methodology development across all Halcyon programs, standardizing Halcyon’s curriculum to better train founders across the world. Halcyon is seeking a proven leader, with experience in the startup world, and whose background and experiences allow them to lead a diverse fellow community of some of the most impressive founders in the world.

Job Responsibilities

  • Halcyon Methodology Development
    • Standardize and augment a world-class methodology to help train Halcyon founders across all programs. Research, test, and refine programmatic interventions to help early-stage founders grow and succeed.
    • Develop repeatable processes and structures for quality control of program plans and timelines.
    • Build programmatic interventions to be successfully delivered both in-person and in digital formats
    • Implement strategies to share elements of Halcyon’s methodology publicly with social entrepreneurs outside of the fellowship.
  • Halcyon Incubator Program Direction and Strategy
    • Lead all aspects of the Halcyon Incubator, from program strategy and development, to supporting fellow ventures through their residency phases at Halcyon
    • Develop a comprehensive program curriculum and core programming based on the methodology for Fellows
    • Communicate and reinforce Halcyon’s mission, vision, and values with Fellows, staff, stakeholders, partners, and public
    • Cultivate and steward relationships to increase stakeholder engagement and funding support for Halcyon Incubator Program
    • Develop and implement strategies to build a loyal alumni network including providing strategic ongoing support for post-residency Fellows and their ventures
    • Establish and refine metrics to enhance the Halcyon Incubator Program
    • Oversee and manage the Halcyon Incubator selections process
    • Serve as the outward-facing primary point of contact with the local community to increase visibility and prestige for Halcyon Incubator
    • Conduct extensive outreach to identify mentors, partners and investors
    • Cultivate and reinforce a strong Halcyon Incubator Program community
    • Keep management informed on a timely basis on the performance and status of the Halcyon Incubator Program
  • Management
    • Manage and support team members across the Incubator team.
    • Develop, manage, and be accountable for program budgets, actively monitoring expenditures and reviewing variances when they arise, meeting all non-profit standards and requirements
    • Identify, actively develop, and manage relationships, contracts, and pro bono agreements with corporate partners that support the goals of the program
    • Attract, develop, and retain a competent, well-trained, properly structured and highly motivated staff capable of achieving Halcyon’s goals
    • Establish and communicate performance standards and provide timely and constructive feedback
    • Monitor relationships between and among Fellows, mentors, leadership coaches, partners, and staff

Position Requirements

  • Professional experience in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with several years of project and/or program management experience preferably with an incubator or startup organization

Title:                           Grant Writer
Reports To:               Chief Development Officer

Job Summary

The Grant Writer’s role is to develop, write, and lead the organization’s grant management pipeline that is complete with a diverse list of funders including, but not limited to: foundations, government, corporate and family foundations. The successful candidate will lead the research and development of successful grant application submissions by aligning with the CEO and Development department goals. The Grant Writer will optimize the grant administration process and operating systems, generate application packages and collect relevant data and materials in overall grants support including, but not limited to grant reports, budgets, and team coordination. The successful candidate must demonstrate their ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Identify and research current and prospective funders and prepare background information/briefing material
  2. Coordinate the submission process by serving as the lead writer for preliminary outreach and grant applications, support program staff in writing and editing program-specific grant submissions; and gather program and budget design inputs
  3. Maintain grant management that accurately charts prospect identification, research, deadlines, cultivation, and stewardship
  4. Manage, maintain, and update grants database and other relevant systems
  5. Guide proposal (e.g. RFP/NOFO/funding solicitations) review sessions and reflect staff feedback
  6. Facilitate team sessions to review funding forecasts, discuss funding scenarios, model fundraising targets, and capture key next steps; help quantify total addressable market and establish a realistic revenue scenario for year-ahead development planning
  7. Lead the organization’s annual effort to consolidate processes, and understand the full range of opportunities to include philanthropic, corporate, family, and institutional grant funding
  8. Maintain understanding of current execution challenges and actively seek comprehensive solutions to streamline internal organization structures for winning applications
  9. Collaborate closely with Communications department to develop and manage processes to collect impact data, draft messaging and content, and communicate Halcyon’s impact to current and potential funders and other stakeholders.

Position Requirements

  • BS or BA degree required
  • 3 years grant writing experience required
  • Proven track record of nonprofit funding submissions and win rates

Skills Required

  • Proficient in grants management software and related technology
  • Advanced strategy and planning skills, including an ability to think strategically on both organizational and systemic levels over multi-year horizons
  • Strong data acumen and ability to oversee shared-measurement systems
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills before multiple types of audiences
  • Experience with complex project management and stakeholder management
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale projects to completion: organize, prioritize, plan,

schedule, and follow up on concurrent tasks and elevating issues or obtaining additional resources when necessary

  • Experience working in grants and database software (examples Fluxx, CyberGrants, NEON, Every Action, Sales Force, etc.)
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, PC, and Mac

Title:                           Program Coordinator, Halcyon Incubator

Job Summary

The Program Coordinator supports the design and implementation of the programming for social entrepreneurs across the Incubator and Intensive programs. The position serves a key coordination role working with Halcyon mentors, leadership coaches, advisors, and partners to create an environment where the Fellows can grow, and their ventures can mature to be successful. The Program Coordinator will play a large role in support the recruitment and selection of the Fellows and will work with the wider Halcyon team to support the measurement and evaluation of these programs.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Incubator and Intensives Program Coordination
    • Support the planning and preparation of core programming for Fellows, including developing new ways to support the Fellows’ ventures, drafting outreach to programming partners, and coordinating activities with multiple stakeholders
    • Manage logistics of both in-person and online programming, creating seamless execution for the attendees, and provide timely follow-up to all programming
    • Monitor and strengthen the relationships between Fellows and mentors, advisors, leadership coaches, and partners
    • Provide individualized support to current Fellows by acting as a connector, confidant, and empathetic ear
    • Provide ongoing support for post-residency Fellows and their ventures
    • Manage and streamline invitations and logistics for Halcyon Incubator and Intensive events
    • Design, conduct, and analyze surveys to assess program effectiveness and recommend changes to enhance the programming
    • Assist external communication partners by maintaining and updating the Halcyon Incubator social media accounts and drafting messages for public dissemination
    • Draft internal and external communications to update Halcyon’s community on the work of our programs
    • Attend startup community events to support Halcyon’s engagement in the startup community

 

  • Program Application and Selection
    • Support the design and implementation of a recruitment strategy to target the world’s most talented social entrepreneurs
    • Work with the communications team to develop a digital marketing strategy to reach new applicants for the program
    • Engage the Halcyon community to increase recruitment effectiveness
    • Grow a highly qualified applicant pool
    • Manage the application review and selection process
    • Ensure selection committee has the necessary information to review potential Fellows and meet Halcyon timelines
    • Craft communications publicly announcing new cohorts and/or successes of current and post-residency Fellows

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Two years program and/or project experience with an incubator, startup, or entrepreneurial program
