Carol Winston
Ms. Carol Winston (she/her) is responsible for maintaining the organization’s compliance with local and federal grant rules, ensuring that the full team adheres to compliance policies, executing a compliance training program, and advising leadership on any actions that need to be taken. Carol will also be conducting the human resources function of Halcyon’s small, but growing team; and lead on the recommendation, creation and uptake of new processes and procedures to ensure continued quality and streamlined operations as Halcyon continues to grow and scale.
Prior to joining the Halcyon team, she was the Deputy Director of Operations for the Humanities Council of Washington, DC and was responsible for managing the organizations operations which included the annual budget, annual audit, grant managers, financial reporting human resources and communication.
Ms. Winston spent 6 years with the Black Women’s Health Imperative as the Sr. Operations and Engagement Advisor and Special Assistant to the President and CEO. She also worked at Howard University for 20 years as the Deputy to the Sr. Vice President for Research and Compliance, the University Compliance Officer, Sr. Compliance Administrator and Regulatory Compliance Administrator.
When Carol is managing her work life balance, she enjoys dancing, horseback riding and watching old black and white movies.
