Alaa Selim is a professional engineer with over five years of experience in automation and control, holding professional certifications in AVEVA and Schneider software and an MSc in electrical power and energy engineering. He is pursuing a PhD in Reinforcement Learning Control Applications in Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). His career spans smart applications in water and energy sectors, including hosting webinars on the Egypt Scholars platform and achieving academic recognition with AGFE and Erasmus fellowships and a Fulbright Scholarship nomination.

As the Co-Founder of OPTIMOO in Egypt, Alaa focuses on electrical engineering solutions for water irrigation, aiming to modernize irrigation techniques for farmers. This initiative— addressing environmental impacts and agricultural efficiency—led OPTIMOO to win the Water and Climate Change Entrepreneurship e-Hackathon for the Mediterranean Region.
