As a co-founder of Up Top Acres, Kristof Grina uses rooftop farming to intersect three major issues presently facing urban areas: local food systems, storm water management, and sustainable development. Kristof became interested in the field of agriculture during time spent at the University of Vermont, where he earned a B.S. in plant and soil science.
Prior to Up Top Acres, Kristof spent three seasons managing operations on an organic vegetable farm in Maryland. He has also worked as a project manager, coordinating the installation of green roof systems for D.C.-based contractor Elevation Greenroofs.
Kristof is a D.C. native and graduate of DCPS system. His work with Up Top Acres is informed by a strong sense of place and the desire to improve not only the District of Columbia, but other urban areas for future generations.
