Mariama Kabia
Mariama is a 2014 Master in Public Policy graduate of Harvard Kennedy School. Before the Kennedy School, Mariama earned a B.A in international relations with honors at the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, she and her twin sister, Fatmata, founded Memunatu Magazine—a classroom magazine for teenage girls (10-17 years old) in West Africa that promotes literacy, leadership, and empowerment. Memunatu Magazine has been recognized as an Echoing Green Semifinalist, Harvard Business School New Venture Competition Semifinalist, Dell Social Innovation Competition Fellow, Clinton Global Initiative University Conference project, Wharton Venture Initiation Program company, and Weiss Tech House Innovation Fund team. At Harvard, Mariama was Co-Chair of the Social Enterprise Conference and resident at the Harvard Innovation Lab. A native of the DC metro area (Fairfax), she recently returned to continue with Memunatu at 1776 incubator. Mariama’s aim is to engage and inspire girls in West Africa.
