Smithsonian’s Arts and Industries Building Serves as Headquarters for By the People Festival

The Smithsonian Institution Arts and Industries Building (A&I) will serve as the headquarters and central hub for the inaugural By the People Festival, an international arts and dialogue festival taking place across Washington, D.C., Thursday, June 21, through Saturday, June 24. Presented by Halcyon, the four-day arts takeover was created to promote empathy and spark civil discourse. It features performances, original art installations, important conversations, an augmented-reality art hunt and more. During the festival, the A&I will house art installations and free programs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday, June 23, A&I and other Smithsonian museums will stay open until midnight for “Solstice Saturday.”
