The Washington National Cathedral is the canvas for a very blue art installation
The blue paint on the Washington National Cathedral’s steps is definitely deliberate. It’s part of Washington’s inaugural By the People Festival, and WAMU reports that the brushstrokes all over the steps of the cathedral are by artist Imran Qureshi. He’s been working on it in time for the festival’s kickoff on June 21, and the blue color is inspired around the idea of “life-giving” water pouring out of the building.
